And for all of us, this is an inflection point. And a moment for careful discernment as our choices now will impact generations to come.
Stewardship for the Next Generation
Being good stewards of what God has entrusted to us is a far reaching mandate, one that encompasses financial responsibility, creation care, and prudent governance over the laws that shape our communities.
In Genesis, when God called us to be good stewards of His creation, He knew we would one day face the AI era. He knew we would be facing an affordability crisis and pollution in our water and air. He knew Grok AI would pervert technology to exploit innocent children.
He knew all of this — which is why He equipped us with Scriptures to help us discern what is right, what is wrong, and what actions we can take to best glorify Him.
Financial Stewardship & Affordability for Families
Data centers themselves are not inherently evil, but unchecked, their impacts can be devastating to families that make up God’s Kingdom. Data centers drive up electricity demand – forcing families to foot the bill. The average American household could see their electricity cost rise by 8% to 25% by 2030. For families already paying $155 a month on average just to keep the lights on, that's $150 to $465 more every year out of a budget that's already stretched to the breaking point. That’s enough to cover one to two weeks of groceries for many families.
And those families are already struggling to keep up. In just the first half of 2025, utilities requested more than $29 billion in rate increases — double the prior year — while one in six American households are already behind on their bills.
Families flourish when they can afford to buy healthy foods and warm their homes in winter. Times are already lean, and the added economic burden of data centers is too much for many families to bear, leaving parents to worry about whether they can afford to keep their children warm and fed.
Protecting Our Kids’ Health & Creation Care
Across America, taps are running dry in communities near data centers and big companies consume finite resources in mass. In other neighborhoods that still have water, data centers have contaminated wells and poisoned groundwater, leaving families afraid to let their children drink from the tap.
The harm doesn't stop there. The diesel generators and cooling systems that keep these facilities running emit nitrogen oxides and fine particulate matter linked to respiratory illness and cardiovascular disease. No family should have to choose between abandoning their home and keeping their children healthy— and yet that is the reality many parents face today.
Community Governance & Protecting Innocents from Grok AI
These facilities don't only burden families financially and harm the communities they move into — they also power something far darker that every parent in America deserves to know about. Some of the most notorious data centers are powering Grok AI, which has been documented generating sexually explicit images of real children— and now faces a lawsuit alleging the model was trained on child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These are crimes against the most innocent and vulnerable among us — children who cannot protect themselves. Without meaningful regulation of both the facilities that power these systems and the companies that run on them, there is nothing to stop this from getting worse.
