Pet Parents for Contraception
There are so many reasons for not being ready or wanting to have a child. Whatever someone’s reason for choosing not to have children—whether just for now or forever—is entirely up to them.
For many Americans—both couples and singles, having a pet is a wonderful way to have companionship and nurture a little creature that works with their lifestyles.
Nationwide, 67% of people ages 18 to 26 say they are choosing pets over parenthood, at least for now. This percentage drops to 43% for ages 27 to 42 and to 28% for ages 43 to 58. Clearly–hundreds of thousands of Americans are deciding to open their homes to pets instead of children!
But just because Americans are choosing to have pets instead of children doesn’t mean the single cat lady trope applies. Pet parents need access to contraception to make sure their households remain fur-babies only!
As Americans supporting the right to contraception, we say cheers to them! We stand by their choices and will continue to support their access to contraception!
